Freshman Neva Bass was nice enough to let me ask her some questions about how her first quarter of high school has been, and what she is looking forward to later.

Q: What has high school been like for you so far?

A: High school’s pretty good. It’s stressful. Well, obviously I’ve been up a whole lot later than usual, and I know most girls are. Most girls, if they really manage their time, are able to finish their homework by about ten, but it really depends on when you get home, but it all takes a while so it’s really stressful.

Q: What have you enjoyed about being in high school?

A: I have enjoyed meeting the new people. They are really nice. Second of all,  just all the clubs. They’re incredible. I signed up for a ton of clubs because I’m more organized when I’m busy. Everyone’s like Neva you’re not gonna be able to do it!

Q: What is a goal for freshman year?

A: My biggest goal for freshmen year is to end with all A’s, which is going to be hard.

Q: What are you looking forward to?

A: I’m really looking forward to Winterim because that’s just something that everyone tells me is so fun.

Q: Have the upperclassmen been helpful as you have transitioned to the Upper School?

A: They really have. They are so nice, and have made the transition a lot easier.

Q:  What could improve your overall high school experience?

A: I wish we had less homework so I could get more sleep. I really wish that teachers understood that I need to have a life instead of staying up really late and not going out on the weekend to be with friends and stuff because you need to do that.

Q: What are some things you wish you had more time for?

A: I’m involved in a lot of service projects with my church. I help coordinate service activities for my youth group at First Presbyterian, and honestly not anything else besides hanging out with friends on the weekend.

Thank you Neva for sharing your experience as a new member of the Upper School. Upperclassmen, good job helping out the freshmen.
